The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro features a 6.83-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, a 3.5x periscope telephoto lens in the triple camera setup, and a big battery that supports 50W fast charging.

It was released worldwide on 5 March 2026 with built-in operating system – Android 16 and Nothing OS 4.1. Nothing Company Overview

Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus, was the founder of Nothing Technology Limited after he left OnePlus in October 2020. In early 2021, he started Nothing in London with the goals to tear down walls between people and technology. In July 2021, the company launched its first Ear (1) wireless earbuds, in 2022 its first smartphone, the Phone (1), and has since introduced successive generations of the Phone, Ear and Headphone ranges, such as the Phone (3) in 2025.

Early on, nothing teamed up with Swedish design studio Teenage Engineering that helped define its visual identity, which is transparent and dot-matrix, and has investors like iPod creator Tony Fadell, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman and YouTuber Casey Neistat. The company launched a budget brand in 2023 called Nothing, also known as CMF, to better cater to the younger audience. Nothing’s cumulative sales reached the multi-million unit threshold by 2025, with sales to exceed $1 billion and a $1.3 billion valuation after the Series C fundraising. 

Release Date and Availability

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro was officially announced on 5 March 2026 at the “Built Different” launch event, along with the regular Phone (4a) and Headphone (a). It features a full metal build over the previous Phone (3a) that was transparent in its back design, and is equipped with the brand’s signature Glyph lighting, which this time is realized in the form of a 137-LED Glyph Matrix.

The phone was launched in India on 13 March 2026 in Flipkart and later through its offline retail and Nothing’s channels. The standard Phone (4a) was to be available in the UK and other European markets followed by the Pro model a couple of weeks later on 27 March 2026. It comes in Black, Silver and Pink colours.

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is priced at Rs 39,999 in India while the 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB models have been priced at Rs 42,999 and Rs 45,999 respectively. Around the India sale window on Flipkart, nothing was available to give an instant bank discount of Rs 4,000 plus additional Rs 1,000 coupon discount.

The price begins at €479 / $499 for the 8GB+128GB model and goes up to €549 / $599 for the 12GB+256GB version, which places the phone in competition with other phones like the Google Pixel 10a. 

Design and Build Quality

The Phone (4a) Pro’s Dimensions are approximately 163.7 x 76.6 x 8mm with a weight of approximately 210 grams, which is clad in an aluminium frame and aluminium back, unlike the transparent polycarbonate panels used on previous Nothing phones. The front is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and it is rated as IP65 dust-tight and able to withstand low-pressure water jets for 20 minutes or during being submerged in water for 25cm.

The most notable feature of its design is the Glyph interface, revitalized as a Glyph Matrix consisting of 137 individually controllable mini-LED lights on the back panel for notifications, timers and custom light patterns. The fingerprint sensor is located beneath the display, not on the side. . 

Processor and Performance Review

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro features an Adreno 722 GPU chipset along with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, which runs on a 4nm process. It comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and has no dedicated microSD card slot. GSMArena’s benchmark testing claimed a score of more than 1.13 million for the AnTuTu v10, which is considered upper-mid-range performance for users’ normal multitasking, camera processing, and casual to moderate gaming needs.

That’s an improvement over the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 that’s used in the standard Phone (4a) and the Phone Pro offers noticeably more sustained performance and AI performance in Nothing’s testing, between the two devices. 

Nothing Phone (4a) Pro Camera Performance Review

The back camera features three 50-megapixel sensors instead of the more typical wide-plus-support-lens design. It features a 50MP, f/1.9 wide sensor with optical image stabilisation, a second 50MP, f/2.9 periscope telephoto with OIS that is capable of reaching a maximum optical zoom ratio of 3.5x, and an 8MP, f/2.2 ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree field of view. Nothing has advertised this as up to 140x total zoom (optical + digital), which is a fantastic range for a mid-range phone.

The rear camera reaches 4K resolution at 30fps, 1080p up to 120fps and supports Dolby Vision HDR recording. Up front, a 32MP, f/2.2 selfie camera handles portraits and video calls, recording up to 1080p video. 

Battery Life and Charging

The Indian version of the Phone (4a) boasts a bigger 5,400mAh battery, while the overseas version has 5,080mAh. Wired charging occurs at 50W with nothing mentioning that it takes up to 22 minutes to reach approximately 50% charge, and around 64 minutes to reach full charge via a compatible charger. It also has 7.5W reverse wired charging for replenishing accessories like Nothing’s own earbuds. The device scored active-use time of only a little more than 15 hours in the test conducted by GSMArena. 

Software and UI Details

The Phone (4a) Pro featured Android 16 and Nothing OS 4.1 on top, and was the first of the products to come out with this version of Android. Nothing OS is not as faithful to stock Android as a behaviour, but it does have the dot-matrix interface icons and monochrome widgets and user-switchable lock screen, which are features of the brand. In addition, flexible home-screen widgets, password recovery for Private Space, hidden apps in the Smart Drawer and separate ringtones for dual-SIM lines were not added in Nothing OS 4.1.

Nothing’s has stated that the device will receive three major Android OS security updates, and reviewers have pointed out that it will also have a longer security patch window. 

Connectivity and Sensors

The Phone (4a) Pro has dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6 with Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.4 (A2DP, LE), and satellite positioning (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS). For contactless payments, an NFC is embedded and for USB connectivity, it is governed by USB Type-C 2.0 with OTG support. The device is not only missing the 3.5mm headphone jack, but also the FM radio feature from Samsung’s older mid-rangers as well.

The phone’s security is provided by a finger-print sensor beneath the display, while its motion tracking features an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor and compass. 

AI Features

Unlike Essential Space, which is an AI-powered center that debuted with a dedicated AI key on the phone’s side, there is no such equivalent hub for nothing OS 4.1. The press-to-capture feature was added to capture a screenshot into Essential Space, the long press is for a voice memo, and double tap will open all the recorded content, while with OS 4.1, Essential Space has also added cloud sync for all of the user’s Nothing devices. An Essential Voice feature can be added on-device translation and transcription, which can be set to start with a long press or a double click of the Essential Key.

The Nothing Gallery app features an on-device AI Eraser to crop out unwanted items from photos without sending them to the cloud, and an Essential News widget to discover and read summarised news stories by topic. Nothing has also introduced an AI usage dashboard in the Settings, where users can monitor the amount of processing done in the cloud by AI models for transparency. 

Audio and Multimedia Experience

The 6.83-inch AMOLED panel also supports HDR10+ content, 144Hz refresh rate and a typical brightness of 800 nits, which are all specifically geared towards outdoor use, with a high-brightness mode reaching 1,600 nits and an instantaneous peak of 5,000 nits. Passing on the 3.5mm jack of many previous incarnations of the Phone (4a) is the switch to a stereo speaker system rather than a single bottom-firing speaker, which the majority of other mid-ranged phones feature.

Conclusion

With a bright 144Hz AMOLED display and a pretty good triple-camera setup, the large battery and quick charging are the only truly non-standard moves that bring the brand’s mid-range series into more familiar, and technically more traditional, hardware-based competition. The new all-metal design trades on some of the previous clear back of Nothing’s designs, while the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and stereo speakers compensate for some of the more common weaknesses of that processor in the middle range. It is one of the more balanced mid-range buyers that Nothing has offered so far, if their focus is on zoom versatility, display quality and everyday usability over the brand’s clear and original look.
